Updates & Resources

SCCU is here to help our members prepare and recover from storms this hurricane season. Find the tools, resources you need, and the latest information about branch availability.

How to Prepare Before a Storm

Create a Family Communication Plan

Storms can cause power outages and spotty cell service. Choose an out‑of‑state contact everyone can check in with and decide how you’ll communicate if phones aren’t reliable.

Make a Plan for Pets

Prepare a pet emergency kit with food, water, medications, leashes, and vaccination records. Identify pet-friendly shelters or places to stay ahead of time.

Protect Important Documents

Store copies of insurance policies, identification, account information, and medical records in a waterproof container. Digital backups can help speed up recovery.

Prepare Your Finances

ATMs and electronic payment systems may be unavailable during outages. Keep a small amount of emergency cash on hand for essential purchases.

Stock Supplies & Ready Your Home

Freeze water bottles ahead of time to help keep food cold during outages and provide extra drinking water if needed.
